Inabane Oji

The path leading to Inabane Oji Shrine passes through a tunnel now,but the path is thought to have been over the small mountain through which the tunnel passes. This shrine was thought to be one of the semi-Gotai oji.The name Inabane is seen in Fujiwara Munetada's diary Chuyuki in 1109.It has a very old history and is close to the important purification site of the Iwatagawa River(presently called Tondagawa River). It is said that pilgrims carried out purification rites in the river water in front of Inabane Oji Shrine and then crossed the river repeatedly going inland toward Ichinose Oji.
