There is a roadside shrine built by local people at the top of kobiro Pass. Nobody knows when this shrine began to be called kobiro Oji .In 1723,the 

Kishu Domain built a marker.In those days there seems to have been tea houses, and it seemed to have been prosperous as an important site for 

travelers.The path into the forests and over three mountain passes continues.
